The ultra-responsive action featuring ABS Styran found in all RX models was vastly superior to the conventional all-wooden actions found on most other brands of pianos. Hand made in Hamamatsu, Japan, this was one of Kawai's upper-end pianos when sold new.

The Kawai RX-3 Conservatory Grand was extremely popular in the piano teaching community since the day they were first introduced. The RX Series, as a collection, was chosen "Acoustic Piano Line of the Year" by NAMM and was the MMR Magazine's Dealers' Choice Awards in 3 consecutive years (2003, 2004 and 2005).


The RX Series rims are built using cross-binding and lamination techniques to form a structure that is, pound for pound, stronger than steel. The beams are made of select hardwood laminates, glued together under pressure, making them equally strong in all directions and impervious to weather changes and warpage.
