Free Escrow Service

Websites which sell expensive items, such as pianos are targeted by creative scam artists. Learn More >

To facilitate safe and risk-free buying and selling transactions on PianoMart, we have introduced our own PianoMart Escrow Service. This free service is available for all transactions over $3,000. For transactions under $3,000, there is a flat fee of $90 which includes the Referral Fee.

Here’s how it works:

  • The buyer sends full payment for piano to PianoMart
  • PianoMart holds funds in our secure Escrow Account
  • PianoMart notifies seller that payment has been received in full and instructs them to release piano to movers
  • Buyer notifies PianoMart when he or his agent takes delivery of the piano
  • PianoMart wire-transfers funds to seller

Both the buyer and seller are protected using this service. Most Escrow Services charge a substantial fee for their service, however, the PianoMart Escrow Service is FREE! Our only purpose is to facilitate a safe transaction for buyers and sellers who use PianoMart. We do not charge an additional fee for the Escrow Service, however, the 3% Referral Fee is still required from the Seller. It is the safest way to buy or sell a piano on the Internet. We are required by law to collect sales tax from all buyers who reside in New York State.

About

Joe Ross Welcome to PianoMart. My name is Joe Ross. I am a Registered Piano Technician, RPT, and the owner and founder of PianoMart.

PianoMart was born in the summer of 1996 and went online in January, 1997. My vision in creating PianoMart was to provide a classified ad-type service on the Internet where people could buy or sell a piano worldwide.

My training as a piano technician began in 1977 when a close friend, who is a piano teacher, suggested that I consider piano technology as a career. Her seeds of encouragement landed on fertile ground. Although I had very little experience with pianos at that time, the idea intrigued me and within a couple of weeks, I became an apprentice with a prominent local piano technician to learn the art of piano tuning, maintenance and repair. In 1980, I became a member of The Piano Technicians Guild.

In the early eighties, I was very interested in the new technology of personal computers and purchased my first computer in 1984. When the World Wide Web began to explode in the mid 1990’s, I saw an opportunity to combine my two passions, pianos and computers. I observed that people were already selling cars, boats and houses on the Internet, so why not pianos?

I hope that you find PianoMart useful in selling your used piano or in finding the piano of your dreams!

Regards,
Joe Ross
