My family acquired this instrument around 1960, when it was rebuilt. Its action is still firm and responsive, and it maintains its noteworthy Steinway bass sonority. The ebony veneer shows wear, in keeping with multiple moves and environments, and being well-played.

Even though this piano could benefit from significant work or even another rebuilding, it still has much to give--with regular tuning and maintenance--in its present condition. With a complete rebuilding/restoration, it would be valued at approximately $30,000.

This piano previously belonged to my father, a noted composer, and was passed down to me years ago for my own playing and teaching.
