This is a unique piano and bench by one of the top American piano makers. The ornate case with a variety of woods and inlays is the main attraction. But it is also a musical instrument with great potential. Partially restored at unknown date with new hammer heads, strings, tuning pins and key tops, it has a strong sound from bottom to top. There is only light wear on the hammers. Back checks and key bushings are good. Tight tuning pins. Sustain and shift pedals work well. The original and still quite resonant soundboard has good crown with several minor splits of no musical or structural significance. Only one split is displaced, needing to be re-glued to the ribs. Otherwise, the piano just needs new knuckles ($200 parts) and regulation. The touch weight is relatively light at 49 grams in the midrange with rapid repeat. Note that there are no metal casters -- the legs rest on glides. Also, the music desk has underlights built in. This piano is being brokered from the owner’s home near Great Barrington, MA by Flynn Pianos.
