This one-of-a-kind Steinway O was made in Hamburg, Germany in 1906. It has a distinctive, early modern design with bold vertical grain, refinished by hand. We kept the original soundboard that yielded excellent volume, sustain and rich overtones. We installed a new Bolduc pin block, strings, damper felt, knuckles, and repetitions. We kept the original shanks and hammers that were remarkably good in size and resilience. The keys have been recovered in plastic because the original ivory was unsalvageable. The piano is beautifully regulated and voiced.
In both looks and sound this German piano contrasts vividly with our rebuilt ebony NY Steinway O right beside it (also on Pianomart.com). Note that there is no middle pedal (sostenuto) on the German-made home pianos until much later in the 20th century. The price includes a new artists bench with leather upholstery, plus ground floor delivery within 50 miles, a climate control system, and the first onsite tuning. Trade-ins will be considered.
