With a length of approx. 6’11” in length, the Steinway & Sons Model B has grown to become one of the world’s most famous musical instruments. Dubbed by some to be the ‘perfect piano’, these seven-foot instruments are often chosen by professional and amateur musicians as their personal practice instruments. It is not uncommon to see these pianos gracing concert stages as well! The length of these ‘parlor’ grand pianos offers them a wonderful balance between manageable size and concert-quality performance. These instruments were first introduced in 1878, and production has been consistent at the New York and Hamburg factories since that date.

Steinway Model B #375038 was built in 1962 at the Steinway Factory in New York. The piano’s cabinet features solid brass hardware, square arms, and tapered, spade legs. The classic contrast of the ebony cabinet with rich brass hardware is a combination that goes with virtually any décor. The piano received a fairly recent rebuild by another piano rebuilder. Upon inspection, we have found the following work has been done. The soundboard was repaired and refinished. The bridges were re-pinned. A new pinblock was installed along with new strings, tuning pins, and agraffes. The cast iron plate was re-bronzed. The action received a new set of Abel hammers, shanks and flanges along with new wippens. The damper felts were replaced and the key set received new key bushings and new key tops. The piano boasts its original factory finish. Our technicians have spent the time required to ensure the piano is well regulated and voiced. This piano boasts the wonderfully responsive touch and powerful tone that aficionados have come to expect from concert-level Steinway instruments.
