Boston by Steinway & Sons Baby Grand Player Piano -MINT Video
This Boston GP-163 looks gorgeous—sleek black finish, wide tail design, and it’s clearly well-cared for. From the gold plate, serial 124494 with the “GP 163” and “II” marking, this is a Performance Edition II model, 5ft 4” baby grand, designed by Steinway but built by Kawai—top-tier mid-range stuff.
Age-wise: around 1999-2000. Serial numbers in that ballpark hit right after the late-nineties jump from one-one-oh-thousands to one-three-oh-thousands. It’s about twenty-five, twenty-six years old now—prime for a Boston if it’s been maintained.
Condition? From what I see: no obvious dings, scratches, or wear on the case—lid props solid, strings look clean, hammers tidy, no rust. The soundboard’s gold-washed maple shines, action seems responsive. That PianoDisc player setup (the box under the keys) adds real value—player systems like that bump resale up five to eight grand easy.
Market today? Used GP-163s in good shape go twelve to eighteen thousand dollars, depending on location and extras. Yours—with the player, polished ebony, and that spotless interior—could fetch $15,000-$18,000 plus if you sell privately. If it’s tuned regularly and hasn’t moved much, tone should still be warm and punchy, like a mini-Steinway.
