For sale is an absolute gem of a piano: a 1997 NY Steinway B. The 90s were a great era for Steinway in terms of producing high-quality, warm and rich-toned instruments. This instrument has been extremely well-cared for and it's basically turn-key for the next buyer. It would be incredibly well-suited for the home, studio, institution or place of worship.

This Steinway B has all of its original parts and has been thoroughly cared for over the years including frequent tunings.

In the last 3 months, the piano has been fully tuned, voiced, and regulated. The touch is on the lighter side, but not overly so. I just had my technician tune it again for prospective buyers. Voicing is on the warmer side, but still able to give full-bodied power when prompted..

The finish is in fantastic shape overall, no significant damage there whatsoever. There are some very fine scratches to the fallboard, but this is incredibly common. The interior is extremely clean as well.

Soundboard, pin block, bridges, strings, keytops, hammers/action are all in superb condition.

Includes a brand new Steinway bench as well.

The piano also features a brand new dual-tank Dampp Chaser system to protect its soundboard against humidity. This was installed by a certified technician for the brand. Additionally, I have been keeping the humidity in my home around 40-49% year-round.

I am only selling this because I plan to travel a great deal and I'd rather the instrument go to someone who will cherish and take care of the instrument. I am happy to put you in contact with my current piano technician. You are also welcome to bring in your preferred technician to inspect the piano.

Lastly, in terms of logistics, I have some great news. I have a small loft unit located in beautiful (safe and quiet) Printer's Row in downtown Chicago. I work from home so scheduling time to see this should be very easy.

This area is easily accessible by car (paid parking in front of the building), train (Union Station is a 15 minute walk away), and even plane (Midway or O'Hare both connect to public transit or rideshare). Best of all, moving this piano out will be very easy since my building has a massive freight elevator leading to a dock behind the building for a moving truck. NO stairs, NO sharp turns/corners. I have a local Chicago piano mover that I've trusted over the years and would be happy to refer you to them.
