Offered for sale is a beautiful German-built Seiler 208 semi-concert grand piano, serial number 172557, built in 2007 and imported from Bavaria, Germany. This is a pre-Samick instrument from the original Seiler tradition, an era many buyers specifically seek out for its craftsmanship, musicality, and authentic German build quality.
At 6’10”, the Seiler 208 was designed for recording, performance, conservatory use, and demanding pianists who want a grand piano with depth, projection, color, and control. Like Seiler’s redesigned grand models of this era, the Model 208 benefits from duplex scaling, longer strings, a larger soundboard area, longer keys, and a lighter, more responsive touch, features that contribute to its power, tonal richness, and nuanced control.
This piano has been meticulously maintained in a climate-controlled environment with consistent humidity and temperature control. It has been professionally tuned at regular intervals and voiced, and has been well cared for throughout its life. It is a used piano, but aside from a few minor scratches and light cosmetic buffing marks, it is in very good overall condition. Everything is in good shape, with no damage.
The Seiler 208 features premium materials and design throughout, including:
Action: Renner
Hammers: Finest quality German felt, Abel, “T” wired
Soundboard: Winter-cut white spruce, solid spruce, with Seiler’s unique Membrator system
The Seiler 208 features a Renner action and Abel hammers, premium German components of the highest caliber. Renner later became part of Steinway, and Abel hammers were also used for a period in Hamburg Steinways. In that sense, this piano shares the same pedigree of German action and hammer components associated with elite European instruments.
Seiler’s Membrator system is unique to Seiler and helps create a singing, transparent, richly resonant sound with excellent sustain, color, and projection.
Tonally, this piano offers a refined, expressive treble, a warm and colorful middle register, and a powerful, controlled bass. It has the scale and presence of a true semi-concert instrument while remaining an exceptional choice for a serious private studio or luxury home.
Beyond its musical performance, this piano is simply stunning to look at. The woodcraft and design are absolutely beautiful throughout, with a level of detail that is rarely appreciated until you see it in person. It even looks remarkable from the underside—as shown in the photos—which is something you typically do not see in most grand pianos. This level of visible wood craftsmanship is unusual and, in my view, not something commonly seen on Yamaha or Steinway grands, including the Yamaha CF series.
Along with the photos, I am also including a video with sound samples so interested buyers can get a better sense of the piano’s voice and character.
