It was a beautiful piano that checked all the boxes, over 7ft, Renner action, completely mint - but when I played it, I just wasn’t that impressed. It was very subdued, and there was a clear lack of bass. I was recommended the Shigeru, and I definitely knew the name, but I thought 5’11”? There is no way that size piano will have the full sound I am looking for…and I could not have been more wrong. It took me hours in the showroom to get over the shock of how perfect this piano sounds and plays. I am the second owner, and both of us played very infrequent for pleasure, so this Shigeru has amazingly little wear. This particular SK-2 is #4 of only 30 that were made that year, confirmed by the inscribed plate inside. These instruments are very rare, but are sought after gems for pianists with a discerning ear and a sensitive touch. Current SK-2 MSRP is $86,595, so this Shigeru is 45% of retail, which is a bargain for a Prestige-Class piano, in mint condition, with such low play time.
