Full-size Viennese concert grand piano by Rudolf E. Stelzhammer (Vienna), serial no. 4543, built approximatey 1912-1918.
This is an original, unrestored per-war Austrian concert grand, built in Vienna during the final years of the Austro-Hungarian Empiere. The piano features a solid-iron frame, original Viennese action, ornamental tuning-pin rosettes, and a beautifully preserved original soundboard with no visible cracks. The instrument retains is original French polish (shellac) finish with authentic natural patina and has never been modern refinished. Importantly, the strings, dampres and plate are original, which is increasingly rare for pianos of this age. Structurally the piano is very good condition and is an excellent candidate for professional restoration, historical performance, or a collector's instrument. These Viennese concert grands are known for their warm, singing tone, ideal for Romantic repertoire (Brahms, Liszt, Chopin, Debussy).
