Pristine Baldwin SD-6 Concert Grand. Originally built in 1948. Rebuilt in 2017 by Pianoworks in Atlanta, GA, where I purchased it.

-Case completely stripped and refinished in Satin Ebony.

-New Steinway hammers and Steinway strings give this instrument a tone that is more related to a Steinway D...more refined and sweeter than a typical Baldwin.

The midrange is broad and rich in harmonics. The top end is sweet and lyrical. The bass is golden toned and sounds larger the lower you go. The bottom note is the largest and most resonant.

Action is medium and buttery smooth with a shallower key fall than typical newer grands.

Dynamically, this instrument is easy to control. It's great for a residential setting for those who want the "9ft sound" that nothing smaller can make, yet still want a instrument that can be taken down to almost nothing, a whisper without having to strain for fine control, which this one can. If your setting is a church or hall, this instrument will have no trouble scaling up to fill it with a refined and polished sound.

In direct comparison, it stood up to an array of newly restored Steinway D instruments asking $90-110K. This is a special instrument. It's lovely.
