We are retiring to the Philippines and have decided not to bring our Steinway with us. To do so would kill a very fine instrument. I need to find a new home for it before we can sell our house.

It was inspected by a piano technician in early December and found to be 99% of new condition. I have had a padded string cover on it since I bought it new in 2005, so the inside has been covered its entire time in our (pet-free, smoke-free) home. It was prepped in our home by one of the best piano technicians I've ever met, Skip Becker.

I just retired from the merchant marine, so half the year I was not at home. The time I was not working was split between Jacksonville and Bataan. I am the only one in our family who plays, and when not at home I have it closed and covered with the fall board locked. So the actual time played is closer to 4-5 years.

The hammers show minimum wear, and since I often use the soft pedal the wear is even across the hammer face, with negligible grooving. The dampers and back checks look brand new. The only sign of being used is some finger marks along the fall board.

The piano technician said he cannot remember ever working on a piano so immaculate.

As a new ebony 6' 2" Model A costs $101,100 (over $108,000 with sales tax) and with the 5' 1" Model S going for $73,300 (over $78,000 with tax), I feel comfortable in asking $49,000, 10k less than when I bought it new.

Included: adjustable artist bench, custom padded string cover and satin ebony caster cups. Buyer to pay moving expenses.
