Built in 1918, this Model M is a fully original example of one of one of the most enduring designs belonging to Steinway’s “Golden Age” of piano building. The piano retains its original Steinway plate with Duplex Scale and Tubular Metallic Action Frame patents cast into the harp, its original ivory keytops, and all original internal components — nothing has been rebuilt or modernized. It belonged to a private owner for its entire lifetime and was used for many chamber music concert series’ over the years. For a buyer or technician seeking a genuine, untouched New York Steinway to restore, this is a rare opportunity to work with an instrument that hasn't been altered from its factory-original state.

The piano is currently not playable. There is a crack in the soundboard, some notes do not sound, and the instrument is out of tune throughout. The strings show natural age-related oxidation consistent with the instrument's era, and the action, hammers, and other components are all original and unrestored.
