Beautiful 1937 Wm. Knabe & Co. upright piano in a warm figured walnut cabinet with a satin finish, decorative Queen Anne–style legs, carved detailing and an ornate music rack. Wm. Knabe & Co., founded in Baltimore in 1837, was one of America’s most highly regarded historic piano makers and was closely associated with the Metropolitan Opera. Knabe instruments from this era were known for their quality construction and rich, singing tone.

This piano retains its handsome period character, including the original Wm. Knabe & Co. fallboard lettering and attractive walnut grain. The cabinet shows normal age-related wear consistent with an instrument approaching 90 years old, but overall presents very nicely, as shown in the photographs.
