I’m selling my **Boston GP-156 II 5’1” baby grand piano in matte black**, which I originally purchased from the **Steinway showroom in Atlanta back in 2004 for $16,200. I still have the original sales documentation, and it will go with the piano to its next home.

For context, the current version of this same model sells new for around $25,000\+ today, so this is a chance to own a Steinway-designed grand at a much more accessible price.

I’m a pianist, and over the years I’ve owned Kawai and Yamaha grands as well, but this Boston has always been the one I’ve personally enjoyed the most. What’s always stood out to me is the surprisingly rich, deep bass for such a compact instrument. At just 5’1”, it still manages to sound full, warm, and very satisfying to play.

One of the things I’ve really appreciated about it is how well it fits into a home. It has a small footprint, so it doesn’t overwhelm a room, but it still gives you that real grand piano presence and resonance. It’s a great balance for someone who wants a Steinway-designed instrument but doesn’t have space for a larger grand.

The piano itself is in very nice condition. It has only light cosmetic wear consistent with age—small surface marks that you really have to look for. Nothing that affects the sound or enjoyment of the instrument.

Why am I selling it? I’m relocating out of the country and unfortunately can’t take it with me. This is honestly a very emotional sale for me, because I’ve loved this piano and spent many years playing it. If my situation were different, I would absolutely be keeping it.
