Description:
C. Bechstein full-size grand piano, manufactured in Berlin, Germany, circa 1915. Satin black finish in very good condition. Original case, music desk, and appointments intact. The ivories are original and in excellent condition.

Rebuild History:
Professionally rebuilt approximately 25 years ago. The rebuild included new strings (Roslau-type), new hammers, and new tuning pins. The soundboard, bridges, and pinblock are original to the instrument. The piano has seen limited use since the rebuild. The hammers are in excellent condition.

Current Condition:
The soundboard is original with some loss of crown, as expected for an instrument of this age. Small soundboard repairs have been performed and are well-executed. Bridge downbearing is slightly diminished but adequate — the piano holds tune and is playable at standard pitch. The pinblock is original with oversized replacement pins; currently holding very well. Action and hammers are in great condition with Bechstein’s proprietary action components intact.

Tonal Character:
Warm, mellow tone with the singing quality characteristic of vintage Berlin Bechsteins. As the soundboard and bridge are original, the projection and volume are as expected for a period instrument. The hammers are excellent period approximations and have a traditional sound. Well-suited for home use, teaching, and intermediate-level playing. Not recommended for performance use or advanced pianists requiring full dynamic range and projection. Original Bechstein style action (different from standard action).

Summary:
This is a genuine C. Bechstein from Berlin’s golden era of piano manufacturing. It’s an honest instrument in good playable condition with excellent cosmetics. It offers the Bechstein heritage and a warm, pleasant sound for home enjoyment at a price well below what a full restoration would command. Piano will be freshly tuned and cleaned for viewing.
