This unique antique Ivers & Pond grand piano, dating to approximately 1890–1895, features a beautifully preserved case with ornate custom woodworking on the exterior panels, music desk, and legs. The exterior is in very good condition, making this piano especially appealing as an antique or decorative statement piece.

The keyboard and hammers appear to be in good condition and were likely replaced at some point in the past. The strings show some surface rust consistent with age; a piano technician has noted that restringing may be considered as part of a full restoration, depending on the buyer’s goals.

The serial number (15721) is carved into the wood of one of the legs. A catalog from this era (1895) can be viewed on the Antique Piano Shop website under the Online Museum tab.

Ivers & Pond pianos were produced in Boston, Massachusetts, and were known for craftsmanship and design quality that rivaled leading piano manufacturers of their time.

This piano is not easy to find, particularly with such an attractive and intact exterior. Bench is included, along with an antique Maelzel metronome (Paris, France).
