This is a stunning 1914 Steinway Model A grand piano. It is a rare Model A3, also known as "the stretch A." At 6'4" in length, it is significantly longer than the standard Model A. That extra length and incremental soundboard area generates more power, depth, and range. It has an advanced scale design relative to the A2. For these reasons, many pianists prefer the A3 to even the Steinway model B. And the A3 has the advantage of being much less expensive than the iconic B.

The piano has been fully restored and refinished. I personally completed all of the restoration work myself. I am an expert in Steinway restoration, and have been restoring, repairing and tuning pianos for over 35 years.

The restoration work includes:
- All new action parts: hammers, shanks and flanges, and new repetitions using only OEM Steinway factory parts. A piano cannot sound like a Steinway if it doesn't have Steinway parts!
- New custom fitted pin block, ensuring tight tuning pins for decades.
- New agraffes. Agraffes are made of brass and can break off after many years of intense stress from taut strings. Better to put in new ones!
- Harp re-bronzed with the highest quality paint, matching the original Steinway color. Also was re-lettered.
- Re-strung with high tensile German treble wire and powerful, deep, floor-shaking bass strings from the Mapes International Gold Company.
- Keyboard: all new front and balance rail bushings, leaving a silky smooth touch with no lost motion. The pianist therefore has the greatest level of control to create the tone they seek.
- Keytops are new German Kluge tops and fronts and the sharps are the original authentic ebony sharps, cleaned and polished.
- Pedals and associated trap work completely refurbished with all new soft leather contact points. All parts graphited for squeak-free smooth operation.
- Reconditioned underlever "back action" and all new damper felts.
- All hardware: casters, hinges, screws, pedals, plate screws and bolts were re-plated in flawless nickel.
- Brand new satin ebony finish, carefully hand-rubbed.
