This is a great piano for a student for learning and practice. Just tuned and appraised by David West Piano Service, this will need some work to maintain its quality for the long term, but it will be fine for the next few years. This exceptional Chickering & Sons “Anniversary Grand” piano was produced in Boston, Massachusetts, during the company’s 100th Anniversary year (1823–1923). The original cast iron plate is factory-engraved “THE ANNIVERSARY GRAND”, confirming its limited commemorative production run.

Although the plate carries an earlier serial number (128473)—typical of Chickering’s overlapping casting sequences—this instrument was assembled and completed in the early 1920s, aligning with the centennial series.

It represents a prime example of American piano craftsmanship, combining Chickering’s renowned warm tone, responsive action, and elegant casework. The piano retains its original mahogany finish and includes the matching bench.

Originally designed as a player grand, it was professionally converted decades ago to a standard grand, ensuring a clean aesthetic and stable performance. The instrument has been maintained in a private home and tuned periodically.
