Our piano was refurbished in 2001 for $10,000. That was a lot of money at the time to achieve an excellent result. Refurbished pianos have 20 to 50 years ahead of them if taken care of in the home.
A low-end refurbishment would minimally cost $15,000 today. This is why my piano has value: the job is already completed.
My family bought the piano in 1947 for my 8-year-old father. Dad brought the piano to the States from Dublin, Ireland, in the mid-1970s.
The piano has 85 keys. There is one crack in the soundboard.
