This beautiful square grand piano by Chickering & Sons, Serial No. 41522, was built by Chickering in Boston in October-November 1872. It is marked Scale 51B cast into the iron frame on the left side of the piano.
The piano is crafted from Brazilian Rosewood and both case and inside workings were completely refurbished at a well known piano dealer in 2007 at a cost of over $15,000.
All hammers were replaced, dampers replaced, new tuning pins, new felt, plate refinished, new keys (original ivory keys were cracked and non-repairable), bass strings replaced, treble strings replaced,
It is in absolutely beautiful condition with a gorgeous finish and has been kept in my music room since purchase and refurbishment.
Piano bench (believed to be original), goes beautifully with the piano and may be purchased separately for $1,500.
Key numbers 18 and 25 are not striking properly - may just be misaligned. All other keys are in working order.
