The Boston line of grand and upright pianos was introduced by Steinway & Sons in 1992. This was done to allow Steinway Dealers to sell a more complete piano line. Designed with visual and structural components inspired by Steinway & Sons, these high-quality instruments continue to be built by the legendary Japanese piano maker, Kawai. Measuring 5’3″ in length, this Boston GP-163 features a square armed cabinet design with an adjustable, arrow-point music desk. The piano rests on tapered, spade legs. The high-polish ebony finish contrasts against the golden, solid brass hardware. It is evident that design notes have been taken from the New York Steinway appearance philosophy. The inner rim of the piano is veneered in a natural mahogany, adding to the piano’s visual interest. Boasting a ‘wide tail’ design, similar to the formerly produced Steinway Model L, this allows the GP-163 a greater soundboard area and a unique scale design. The soundboard is constructed out of solid spruce. A hard maple, multi-layered pinblock allows for a stable tune.

The interior of the piano has been cleaned and prepped to bring it back to like new condition. This is one of the finest used pianos we currently have available at our New Paris, Indiana Rebuilding Facility and Showroom. The piano’s action has been expertly regulated and voiced by our piano technicians to bring out a warm, and full quality of tone. Our piano refinishers have spent many hours cleaning and polishing the polyester ebony finish to ensure a like-new look. This piano was kept in a stable home environment and it is obvious that it was well cared for and ‘babied’ throughout its life.
