Measuring approx. 5′ 10 1/2″ in length, the Steinway & Sons Model L Grand Piano was originally introduced in 1924. The Model L with its squared-off tail was designed to replace the same-size Model O which featured a rounded tail section. The cast iron plate and soundboard conform to the square tail providing additional soundboard space at the rear of the instrument when compared to its predecessor. The Model L was a New York Factory exclusive, and was produced through 2005. The Model L/O Grand Pianos are the larger ‘baby’ style grand pianos built by Steinway and are among the most popular. These instruments are at home in both home and institutional environments.

Fully restored, this vintage, ‘golden-era’ grand piano is a feast for both the eyes and ears. The piano’s cabinet includes squared off arms, resting on tapered, spade legs. The cabinet is veneered in a highly figured American walnut. Expertly refinished in a closed-pore, hand-rubbed lacquer, the wood shimmers under light, with a depth and character verging on the three-dimensional! The wood selection available to piano makers in the early 20th century continues to impress to this day.
