This first-rate upright piano is in excellent condition and includes a matching artists bench. It plays well and has the rich tone characteristic of fine European pianos. It was made in the Czech Republic for Bechstein, a top-tier German company. Hoffman is their second tier brand. It is comparable to - though better than - Steinway's second tier Boston brand uprights made in Japan. The Bechstein branded uprights cost much more, starting at $30K. This particular instrument has exceptional volume, sustain and overall musicality. It has good tuning pin torque, original hammers with little wear. Soundboard and bridges have no splits. Excellent keytops and bushings. No case damage. All pedals function properly, including the middle pedal practice mute. Well regulated overall.
The piano is in the owners' lower Manhattan apartment where there is a freight elevator. So no challenges removing it from the building. Just three blocks from the subway station. Easy to visit.
