Strohber Victorian Upright Piano Circa 1900-1915

This piano in its “as-is” condition appraised at $8500-$10000. Fully restored, it would appraise between $17000-$22000. It is in great condition. The color of the piano is one that I have never seen before. A deep purplish red with gold detail. It also comes with the original storage bench.

Strohber was part of the prominent Smith & Barnes Piano Company of Chicago. The Smith & Barnes Piano Company was established in 1884 originally as the C.A. Smith Piano Company. Their factories were located at Clybourn Street in Chicago. In 1891, Barnes joined the firm and it became incorporated as Smith & Barnes Piano Company. In 1906, the Strohber joined with Smith & Barnes forming the Smith, Barnes & Strohber Piano Company. The firm manufactured pianos under the names of Smith & Barnes, Strohber, Hoffman, Lessing & Willard. In 1924 the firm was purchased by the Continental Piano Company, and they continued the Smith & Barnes name until the Great Depression.
