Selling my studio-size Yamaha piano in excellent condition because my children were the primary players and they no longer live at home. I have owned it for 18 years and have had it tuned and serviced annually.

Yamahas are one of the top-recommended piano brands for players of all skill levels. It's equipped with a practice pedal, which is great for quieter household playing.

I had my piano technician conduct an evaluation of the piano and their findings are included below.

September 20th, 2022 -- Manufactured in Japan, this 1970 Yamaha U3 (serial number 1114440) is in excellent overall condition. The external and internal metal hardware shows some signs of age, but nothing that would cause unnecessary friction or poor function. The ebony polish is remarkably well-kept for a piano of this age with only a few small nicks and dings to the exterior and some light surface scratches to the lacquer which are somewhat visible under highly reflective lighting.

All structural components such as the bridges, pedal trap work, tuning pin block, and ribs are in great condition; the soundboard showed some slight pressure ridges, but no cracks; and the strings show no signs of corrosion.

The internal mechanisms are functioning very well so the performer can play with good repetition, consistency, comfort, speed, and dynamic range. The piano's overall tone is mellower than Yamaha's typical "bright" sound, although there is still room in the hammer felt to be voiced if desired. The only parts that are not within factory specs are mechanisms that are commonly adjusted during standard service visits. The pedals function well, and while much of the internal felt shows typical signs of wear, it will not need servicing for the foreseeable future.

The bottom of the artist bench's internal storage compartment is sagging with some loose staples from carrying music books through the years and the upholstery has several holes, missing buttons, and some claw marks from the household cat.

Altogether, this piano has been very well taken care of and shows positive overall signs of serviceability, sound, and function. Based on my experience, this piano will provide many more years of good performance if it continues to be cared for properly.
