My mother was given this B.K. Settergren piano in the early 1940s. She owned it from girlhood into her 80s. She played daily during her retirement years. It holds its tune well.
Mom's parents bought it from an old folks' home and gave it to her for her birthday. Now she's in an old folks' home, after Alzheimer's stole her ability to play.
She learned to play on this piano and she loved it dearly. If she could express her wishes, she would want someone else to learn on this piano for a few years before moving on to something bigger. This price is a modest investment in what could turn out to be a lifelong passion for piano.
It's in good condition. The lid was left open for years in the home of a heavy smoker, and the soundboard is covered in dust. I just got it tuned and I'm not about to poke between freshly tuned strings to try to clean the soundboard.
The pull knobs on the fallboard are stripped out of their screws, and the fallboard hasn't been closed in a long time. Other than that, this piano is in fine shape.
