This was my mother's piano, purchased from Kurt Safir in 1973 and played for many years in teaching piano & voice, private rehearsal, and in-home performance at our family's creative soirees. She said that she "played every piano in the showroom, but chose this one because it had the touch of a Baldwin and the sound of a Steinway." Has a strong action for developing finger technique, and satisfying volume and resonance for home, studio, or performance venue.

Condition overview: This piano has been well-loved and carefully handled as a member of the household. It has gone through multiple benches over the years, with so much activity, but has a sturdy and serviceable one as its current accessory. The soundboard cracked at one point over a decade ago (from humidity fluctuation, presumably), but was mended by my father, who also tuned the instrument more or less annually for many years. It was last tuned in 2019, but has held its pitch and tone remarkably well. For a working instrument it is in very good condition, and highly suitable for recording and live performance as well as teaching/private practice. It is not, however, in /absolutely showroom-perfect/ surface condition, despite the care which it has been given over the years.

This instrument brought joy to everyone who heard it. It sounds great on its own, and it "plays well with others" in accompaniment or ensemble. Its warmth of tone goes particularly well with Chopin, Beethoven, Schubert, and Mendelssohn. My mother always said she got a piano "instead of a car." Let her long-cherished instrument take you places too.
