A Steinway XR is a Model M (5'7") placed inside of a 6'2" body. Originally built as a Duo-Art Reproducing Piano (the highest quality player piano), the reproducing mechanism was removed long before I owned it. I have owned it since 2001.

BIG SOUND!

The extra large case seems to lend itself to more resonance. I've never played a piano this size that brings as much sound without overplaying the instrument.

It plays evenly throughout, and it has that versatile Steinway sound that feels right playing Bach, Jazz, Broadway, Rock, Chopin, Ives, Copland, Ligeti, Beethoven.
