Knabe Parlor Grand Piano (Walnut, excellent condition) restored by one
of the finest technicians in Southern California (and beyond).

It took 2 years - 1900-1902 - to build this custom-ordered piano. Serial #:47782.

I'm a pianist, so my primary concern was bringing back this wonderful instrument to its
original glory. Of course, it helps that the piano is stunning! It is both stately and elegant.

One will not find a piano of this quality, refinement and sound for many times my asking
price. No current pianos are made with comparable care to details - it's just too expensive.

There are a few original parts that did not warrant replacement and would have altered
the quality of the sound and the feel of the piano: the pin block, the sound board and
the ivory and ebony keys, which are in fine condition.

The restoration included a full restringing with new pins, most of the action is new (Sep/Oct 2019),
including custom-made whippens from Germany - each of which had to be modified for a piano of
that era. Parts that were worn or brittle were replaced, dampers were re-aligned, bushings were
replaced when necessary.

A full regulation, voicing and tuning completed the job. The action is consistent throughout all
registers and the sound is rich and full with that beautiful "ring" in the upper registers.

The case of the piano is walnut with beautiful grain. The mahogany seat is most likely not original,
but it is functional, attractive and strong.
