Chickering pianos are among the finest American pianos ever built. They were the first piano manufacturer in the United States. The company began in 1823 and Chickering pianos continued to be made until 1982. This Chickering is a top-tier piano comparable to Steinway, Mason & Hamlin, and Baldwin.

Chickerings feature wet sand casted metal frames, hardwood rims, and the finest spruce soundboards. All exceeding industry standards.

This wonderful Chickering has just been rebuilt. It has a red tiger striped mahogany lacquer finish that is original to this piano and is in good shape for its 71 years.

The tone of this piano is warm, rich and vibrant with a booming bass and a bell-like top. The dynamic range is very large. The regulation provides for the softest pianissimos and most thunderous fortissimos the like of which cannot be achieved by many pianos of much greater size, and yet, at only 5’3”, this piano can fit beautifully in any corner of your home. It is really quite remarkable!

The action has been rebuilt. New Ronsen Bacon hammers have been installed on new Wessell Nickel & Gross carbon fiber shanks and flanges for optimal power and reliability for the simple reason that carbon fiber shanks are not negatively affected by humidity and temperature changes the way that standard wooden shanks are. In addition, the original wippens have been rebuilt.

The action has been regulated to a concert level. The touchweight ranges from 58 grams in the bass to 48 grams in the treble. The action is very even and responsive. The aftertouch has been regulated to 30/1000ths giving the pianist ultimate feedback for perfect voicing. It feels great to play!

We have used the latest computer modeling to create a new string scale for optimal sonority and a seamless transition between the main bridge and bass bridge of the piano. New bass strings built by Arledge Strings, an Industry leader in piano string technology, have been installed.

New damper felts, new simulated ivory keytops and keyfronts have been installed. The balance rail and front rail bushings have been replaced.

This piano is a “tone free”™️ piano meaning that Chickering built small sound chambers into the inner rim of the piano that provide greater sonority and dynamic range as you will hear by listening to the video on the link provided below.

This is a great piano! Don’t miss the opportunity to own this musical masterpiece!!!

Shipping is not included. You can pick the piano up or we can arrange for shipping by professional piano moving companies anywhere in the continental United States for an additional charge.
