Fully Restored and lovingly cared for antique c.1911 Chickering & Sons Mahogany Parlor (6') Grand Piano. This fine instrument has been in our family since it was built by the Chickering & Sons piano company in Boston Massachusetts that employed people in our family. It's rich mahogany wood is polished to a rich finish and has carved ornate legs and stylish "lyre" with brass pedals and accents. There were originally two pianos which were handed down in the family for generations. This beautiful piano was completely refinished, refurbished and restrung to international pitch 440 and maintains a wonderful tuning without losing pitch over time. The keys are perfect and the instrument as a mellow and full sound, every note and key working well and the keyboard has a resilient, responsive and springy touch, something that most pianists look for in the most well made pianos. This Victorian gem has been cared for by our piano technician here in Chicago since we moved to Chicago in 1999. Although we are sad to give up this family instrument which has always been part of our family, we are downsizing and moving - cannot take the piano with us. This is an opportunity for someone who not only enjoys playing a fine piano with wonderful rich sound but also prefers a dark mahogany, smaller parlor grand piano to complete the look of their living space.
