Steinway Piano, Model K 52" Upright, Ebonized cased, Serial #152811. This piano was completed in New York on December 20, 1911 and sold to Charles R. Weeks in Port Washington, NY on March 27, 1912. The current owner had it refurbished in 2006.

Appraiser Comments:

This piano is in good condition.

The action and hammers are all original and in good shape. There is one bass hammer that has been replaced but I consider this minor. The hammers have been filed at some point and sound good.

The keytops are ivory with 2 replacements that are discolored a little. I also consider this minor.

The bass bridge has also been replaced with good quality materials and workmanship.

The treble bridge is in good shape with no apparent cracks.

The strings have been replaced also with quality materials and workmanship.

The pin block is in good shape and the piano is tuned to A-440, the industry standard.

A few damper felts have been replaced and all are working.

The cabinet is in excellent condition.

The soundboard is in good condition, it has a couple of tiny cracks but nothing that could not be shimmed with success.

Overall the piano is in great shape and sounds quite good as is.

Totally rebuilt it would be worth approximately $25,000 to $30,00. New replacement cost $37,500.

Considering that the strings, bridge, and cabinet do not need rebuilding, I would estimate the value at $13,500.
